Spinal Cord Injury Trials
TIRR Memorial Hermann was one of the first facilities in the United States to establish a civilian spinal cord injury center. TIRR was also one of the first centers awarded the highly competitive federal designation as a Regional Model Spinal Cord Injury System for exemplary patient management and research, a designation the facility has maintained since 1972. The Model System grant is lead by Dr. Daniel Graves.
The Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Program provides interdisciplinary education and care for the many body functions affected by a spinal cord injury, as well as specialized services, such as in-house urology consultation and urodynamics studies, spasticity management (including nerve blocks and Baclofen® pumps) and a male fertility clinic.
