TIRR Memorial Hermann Sports was developed to give athletes with all types of disabilities an outlet to continue playing sports both competitively and through intramural programs, including:
- Sled hockey
- Hand cycling
- Sitting volleyball

TIRR Memorial Hermann Hotwheels Basketball
TIRR Memorial Hermann Hotwheels was founded in 1997, first competing in the 1997-98 basketball season with only five players. As the seasons have continued we have had over 75 wheelchair athletes participate on the Hotwheels basketball team.
Five players from the 2007 TIRR Memorial Hermann Hotwheels team were awarded scholarships to colleges with collegiate wheelchair teams and are continuing to play the sport they love on a college level. One member from the 2009 Hotwheels team continued his basketball career with a scholarship to University of Texas in Arlington and another was selected to the residency program at the US Olympic Training Center in Denver, CO for swimming. A senior on the 2010-2011 team was offered a full athletic scholarship to the University of Texas in Arlington. In 2011-2012, a senior was offered a spot with the University of Illinois fighting Illini Ladies wheelchair basketball team.

TIRR Memorial Hermann "Putt and Driver" Golf
TIRR Memorial Hermann Sports “Putt and Driver” is a weekly adaptive golf program. Putt and Driver meets every Wednesday morning from 9:00 – 11:00am at Hermann Golf Course for driving range practice and instruction.
TIRR Memorial Hermann Sports is excited to host a yearly golf tournament to support our program every April. Our next tournament will be hosted at Jersey Meadows Golf Course.
TIRR Memorial Hermann Sports is please to sponsor Houston’s only Quad Rugby team for the past four years. This year’s team consists of 12 athletes ranging from 19 - 45 years of age.
Quad rugby is a full contact wheelchair sport that is a mix of football and soccer. The game is played on a basketball court with four players from each team on the court at each time. For more information on the game and how it is played please visit the quad rugby website at www.usqra.com.
TIRR Memorial Hermann Sled Hockey
Sled Hockey, one of the newest sports program at TIRR Memorial Hermann, due to a generous donation from Operation Comfort, a San Antonio not-for-profit program that provides recreation opportunities for wounded veterans coming home from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sled Hockey began in October 2008. Players do not need to be veterans. For more information on sled hockey in general, please visit the Sled Hockey Team site under Team USA at www.usahockey.com.
We will be starting a new level of sled hockey at the beginning of 2010 where we convert the ice sleds to court sled and the first ever Houston Floor hockey will be started.

Paralympic Sport - TIRR Memorial Hermann
U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, and TIRR Memorial Hermann have partnered to create Paralympic Sport – Houston/ TIRR Memorial Hermann.
Paralympic Sport – Houston/ TIRR Memorial Hermann is a community-based sports club developed to involve youth and adults with physical and visual disabilities in ongoing sports and physical activity, regardless of skill level. All programs and activities will be based in Houston and run by TIRR Memorial Hermann.
The adaptive sports program also runs Camp Xtreme (a program of TIRR Foundation), a weeklong sports camp for children and young adults with physical disabilities. Learn more about Camp Xtreme.
TIRR Memorial Hermann Sports emphasizes community awareness and participation. We have had the opportunity to collaborate with the following organizations:
