“My sincerest gratitude to the PaRC staff for all that we have learned during my son’s stay. I continue to refer parents to your facility, letting them know how much PaRC helped our family in our recovery.” – Jane F., Parent

What Is It Like Inside PaRC's Teen Residential Treatment Program?

The Atmosphere
Your son or daughter must be able to focus on recovery in a teen residential treatment environment that is comfortable, safe and supportive. We create an inviting, family-like atmosphere that your teen will feel comfortable in. We use positive behavior management techniques that are supportive and encourage your teen to engage in treatment and focus on the reason they are here.

Teens have a daily schedule of education and counseling groups, therapeutic hands-on activities and recreation time as well. The teen residential treatment schedule changes day-to-day and week-to-week to keep them engaged and prevent boredom.

Security
Your child’s safety and confidentiality are our top priorities at PaRC. Our teen residential treatment facility is secured facility. The unit is secured but it is not “locked down” – our teens do not express feeling “trapped” in treatment. The unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art security system that monitors all areas inside and outside the facility. We also have security staff on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Rooms
Your teen will share a room with one other peer in our facility. Each room is comfortably arranged with beds, desks, and clothing storage. Each room also has a large bathroom. PaRC’s housekeeping staff will ensure that your teen’s accommodations are clean and comfortable. Your teen will do their own laundry, pick up after themselves and make their bed every day – a new experience for many!

Meals
Many teens who have been using addictive substances have not been eating healthy or well-balanced diets. It is important for your child to receive proper nutrition in the first stages of recovery; the body and brain need healthy foods to repair themselves. PaRC’s award-winning dietary team provides three balanced meals a day as well as multiple offerings of nutritious snacks. A fresh salad bar is offered every day as well.

Your child will also receive nutrition education and learn about healthy eating habits. While in teen residential treatment, patients do not have access to caffeinated beverages – elimination of this helps them stay focused on the education and counseling they are receiving.

Family
You are part of your teen’s treatment team and we encourage family to participate in the treatment program as much as possible. Family members will be engaged in many education and counseling groups through PaRC’s robust family rehab program. Our dedicated staff will help your family get through this time in your child’s life as well as prepare them as well as you and your family for life after treatment.

We also know that you want to see your child while in treatment. Family is welcome to visit during designated Visiting Hours. Your child can also earn Therapeutic Passes which can be used to visit with family off campus.

Hands-On Therapeutic Activities and Recreation

Teens learn best with hands-on therapeutic activities. Activities incorporated into our program including Group Empowerment Drumming, Equine Therapy, Art Therapy and Psychodrama. Your teen will also enjoy recreational activities such as PaRC’s music room; movie theater trips; Hermann Park and Bear Creek Park excursions; visits to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of Fine Arts; activities at the YMCA; and community service at the Way Station.

Our program also addresses physical wellness through regular Health Education Groups, Meditation Groups, Yoga in Recovery, fitness room access, outdoor fitness and recreational activities such as basketball and volleyball.
