Meet RN, Cristi
Cristi became a nurse after her adoptive mother’s battle with colon cancer. She says she saw the incredible compassion, care and commitment of nurses, doctors and other staff who tried to help her mother. It sparked something inside Cristi which made her want to change career paths, go back to school and become a nurse.
Rehabilitation Nursing
Rehabilitation nurses help patients and families with healing, repair, and recovery. Rehabilitation is a lifelong journey and a person with a disability has abilities and many possibilities and the role of a rehabilitation nurse is to nurture those abilities and possibilities in order for our patients to become the best versions of themselves. CNO Introduction
The rehabilitation process for patients and families is a journey. The rehabilitation nurse is a vital part of that journey, where we strive to help patients adapt to a new normal. Nurses who are drawn to the field of rehabilitation desire to help people regain the skills and confidence they need to reintegrate into the community and continue living full and meaningful lives. We work to maximize independence, restore function and improve the quality of life for our patients. Simply put, we’re one of the best at getting the patient back to the life they love.
Nurses find a wealth of opportunity at TIRR Memorial Hermann. If you’re a new graduate or are new to inpatient rehabilitation, we provide a solid support structure to help you navigate your first year and gain competency in rehabilitation through the Nurse Residency Program and the Nursing Rehabilitation Academy. If you’re an experienced neuroscience nurse, we’ll help you hone your practice by investing in ongoing education and professional development, and providing support for pursuing advanced degrees and advanced certifications in your specialty. If you’re interested in research, you’ll find opportunities to advance evidence-based practice in our specialty.
