Spinal cord injury specialist Argyrios Stampas, MD, and brain injury specialist Christopher M. Falco, MD, have joined the medical staff of TIRR Memorial Hermann.

Dr. Stampas comes to Houston from the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, New York, where he was director of the Spinal Cord Injury Program. After receiving his medical degree at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University In Syracuse, he completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He subsequently completed a fellowship in spinal cord injury at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Dr. Stampas’ research focuses on spinal cord injury rehabilitation including rehabilitation outcomes, robotics, motor recovery and exoskeletons. He is the coauthor of research published in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences and meetings.

Dr. Stampas provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services focused on spinal cord injury, including myofascial pain management, neurogenic bladder management, neurogenic bowel management, neuropathic pain management, pressure ulcers and spasticity management. He is a clinical assistant professor in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.

Dr. Christopher FalcoDr. Falco joins TIRR Memorial Hermann after completing his fellowship in brain injury medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine/McGovern Medical School Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Alliance. He completed his residency in PM&R at the same institution, following graduation from McGovern Medical School and an internship in internal medicine at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. A clinical assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at McGovern Medical School, he holds clinical interests in stroke and brain injury medicine with particular interest in disorders of consciousness, spasticity management and behavioral disorders following brain injury.
