Program Overview
Memorial Hermann Hospital System - Greater Heights and Southeast postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program is an ASHP-accredited program that builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education. The goal of the program is to provide the residents with the necessary skills to develop into clinical pharmacists who are responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. Upon completion of the program, residents are eligible for board certification and to pursue postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The program leverages shared resources, preceptors, and rotational experiences across two hospitals. This approach ensures a well-rounded education experience for each resident, promoting competence in diverse patient populations, various disease states, advancing clinical practice, and enhancing patient outcomes. Additionally, the program places a significant emphasis on developing leadership and management skills, as well as fostering expertise in teaching, education, and knowledge dissemination.

- Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Texas
- The resident is strongly encouraged to obtain State of Texas licensure prior to starting the residency program, but MUST be obtained within 60 days of residency start date.
- Eligible for employment by Memorial Hermann Health System
- Memorial Hermann will no longer hire individuals who use tobacco products of any form
