ASSET Course

McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) hosts the Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma Course (ASSET) and the use of the resuscitative balloon occlusion of the aortal technique (REBOA) in the Texas Medical Center for attending faculty, fellows, visiting physicians and residents. The ASSET course uses human cadavers to teach surgical exposure of anatomic structures that, when injured, may pose a threat to life or limb.

The ASSET course was created and is maintained by the American College of Surgeons and has been a popular addition to McGovern Medical School's didactic curriculum.
