HOUSTON (March 30, 2015)

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has re-designated Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital as a Pathway to Excellence Hospital. This will mark the fifth year Memorial Hermann Southwest has achieved this distinction.

The Pathway to Excellence Program recognizes health care and long term care organizations for positive practice environments where nurses excel. To qualify, organizations must meet practice standards that reflect the foundational elements for safe patient care and a positive environment for delivering quality nursing services.

“This designation speaks to the level of commitment and satisfaction among our team,” says Gillian Alexander, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hermann Southwest. “We are constantly working to provide the best possible environment in which our nurses can be successful.”

There are only 126 acute care organizations in the country which meet this designation.

The nurse survey is a unique feature to this designation. It provides nurses the opportunity to validate information presented in the organizations application.

“Organizations that commit to these standards also convey that nurses are valued and respected members of the healthcare team,” adds Alexander. “We’re very proud of our team.”
