HOUSTON (October 25, 2019)

We are pleased to announce that Memorial Hermann Health System and Quest Diagnostics are joining forces to broaden access to innovative, high-value lab services in Greater Houston.

Memorial Hermann and Quest have entered into a definitive agreement for Quest to acquire select assets which constitute substantially all the operations of Memorial Hermann Diagnostic Laboratories (MHDL). This includes more than 30 MHDL patient service centers and nearly 60 in-office laboratory services. Beginning Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, the acquisition of MHDL will undergo the customary regulatory and review processes. It is anticipated that, once customary regulatory approvals are given, the closing date may occur as early as Spring 2020, at which point the changes listed above will be effective.

There are no immediate changes to how Quest or Memorial Hermann laboratories will operate. Until the closing of the acquisition, and pending regulatory review, you should continue to interact with Quest and Memorial Hermann as you normally would.

As part of our commitment to lower the cost of care, we intend to utilize Quest’s expertise and scale to improve cost-efficiencies while maintaining high-quality services. As Memorial Hermann makes the shift toward value-based care, this agreement serves as a natural extension of our vision to create healthier communities and our strategy for the future—a future enabled by this new relationship and resources dedicated to these efforts.
