HOUSTON (July 19, 2018)

Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center has been honored by the Quality Texas Foundation with its Texas Award for Performance Excellence, a prestigious recognition given to organizations that demonstrate strong dedication to quality and high performance.

“It’s a true honor to be recognized by the Quality Texas Foundation for our unwavering commitment to providing outstanding patient care steeped in an evidence-based approach to quality and patient safety,” said Paul O’Sullivan, Senior Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. “I’m proud of the tireless efforts of all of our employees, volunteers and affiliated physicians to ensure that we are adhering to our industry’s highest standards and this recognition is a true reflection of that hard work.”

The Quality Texas Foundation, known as a national leader in its field, was chartered to recognize the best organizations in Texas. The group uses an extensive evaluation process that includes hundreds of hours spent through on-site visits to evaluate and score applicants in several criteria.

Dr. Mac McGuire, CEO of Quality Texas Foundation said, “This award is no small achievement. It’s not about a particular test, or one day evaluation. It is a critical look at both the processes and results shown by Memorial Hermann Memorial City, in accordance with the distinguished Baldrige Criteria. Those who receive the TAPE award have a proven record over time of excellence.”

To achieve the TAPE award, businesses, healthcare providers, schools, government agencies and other nonprofit organizations use the Baldrige Excellence Framework to improve and excel in their industries.

By earning a TAPE award, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center moves one step closer to achieving the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest Presidential honor for performance excellence.

Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital received the prominent award in 2016, becoming the first healthcare organization in Houston to do so. Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital received a TAPE award last year.

Being honored as a TAPE award winner is a significant accomplishment, but more importantly it’s a meaningful step in our ongoing journey to embody the principles of the Baldrige Excellence Framework and achieve preeminent performance for our patients and communities,” O’Sullivan said. “We look forward to continuing to advance our Vision and serve our community with pride and distinction.”

Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center received the award during the Quality Texas Foundation annual conference in June.
