Memorial Hermann earns top honors at the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International’s annual conference in Los Angeles. The commercial real estate industry honored 15 commercial properties with The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards.

The TOBY Awards recognizes excellence in commercial building management and operations in specific categories of building size or type. Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Plaza 4 won the International TOBY Award in the medical office building category.

“Our infrastructure plays an important role in meeting our goal of providing easy exceptional patient care services,” says Marshall Heins, Sr. Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer, Memorial Hermann. “We’re honored to receive this award recognizing our efforts to maintain high quality facilities and provide a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for our employees and our patients.”

The TOBY Awards are the commercial real estate industry’s highest recognition. Judging is based on community impact, tenant/employee relations programs, energy management systems, accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs and overall quality indicators. A team of expert industry professionals also conducted comprehensive building inspections.

Transwestern leases and manages Memorial City Medical Plaza 4. “We’re extremely honored to share in this international award from BOMA with Memorial Hermann,” said Transwestern’s John Wheeler, senior vice president. “We continuously work to optimize the performance and energy efficiency at the Memorial Hermann Health System campus, and this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.”

To win an International TOBY Award a property must first win local and regional BOMA competitions. Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza 4 was the only property in Houston to win an International TOBY award this year.
