HOUSTON (September 25, 2008)

On Sept. 25, the Houston Rockets teamed up with Memorial Hermann to host the "Give Red, Get Red Blood Drive" at the Toyota Center to benefit the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Hurricane Ike deeply impacted the Houston community, depleting the area supply of blood donations.

Rockets staff and players attended, many Memorial Hermann employees were able to donate.

Overall, the blood drive collected 106 units, which will contribute to the increased need for donations. The first 300 donors received a free T-shirt, and all donors were entered for a chance to win free tickets to a Rockets pre-season home game.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is a key supplier of blood to hospitals along the Texas Gulf Coast.
