Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp
Camp Xtreme, a program of TIRR Foundation, is a week-long junior wheelchair sports summer camp for young people ages 8 to 21 with physical disabilities such as spinal cord injury, spina bifida, lower extremity amputations, and other spinal disorders. Hosted in Burton, TX, halfway between Houston and Austin, campers can participate in activities such as archery, kayaking, horseback riding, SCUBA diving (SCUBA experience in pool), ROPES/challenge course, handcycling, basketball, football, floor hockey and softball.
With two campers for every staff member, cabin counselors serve as adult role models who have overcome similar challenges in their transition to adulthood. Cabins are air-conditioned and fully wheelchair accessible with bathing and toileting facilities within each cabin.
