TIRR Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands offers multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient medical rehabilitation. The hospital’s inpatient center is designed to help patients reach optimal functionality following an injury or illness. Personal performance goals are incorporated into a customized rehabilitation treatment program. The outpatient rehabilitation facility is changing patients’ lives by helping them regain the skills and confidence they need to reintegrate into the community. An individualized and comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation treatment program is designed by the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) multidisciplinary team to meet the specific needs of each patient. This team consists of the affiliated physicians, the patient, the family, nurses, physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, case managers and clinical dietitians.

TIRR Memorial Hermann offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care that address the individual needs of each patient who has experienced a life altering injury or illness.
Scope of Services & Admission Criteria
Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands Hospital offers inpatient rehabilitation in a licensed, 29-bed, acute inpatient rehabilitation unit located on the 7th floor of the hospital.
The TIRR Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands inpatient rehabilitation unit is designed to help patients reach the highest level of independence following an injury or illness. We provide rehabilitative care for individuals with many different debilitating injuries, illnesses and other serious medical conditions. Our patients benefit from the highly specialized care provided through our inpatient rehabilitation programs for patients 13 years of age and older.
The TIRR Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands inpatient rehabilitation unit is committed to bringing comprehensive rehabilitation services to Montgomery County, north Harris County and beyond. Although the majority of our referrals come from acute-care hospitals, we also receive referral from other sources, - including, but not limited to, physician offices and skilled nursing facilities.
Each patient admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation unit is expected to have a diagnosis/condition which is known to benefit from comprehensive rehabilitation intervention. Functional limitations may include any of the following:
- Mobility deficits
- Activity of daily living such as grooming, dressing, or bathing
- Feeding or swallowing deficits
- Speech, language, or hearing deficits
- Cognitive, perceptual and/or sensory deficits
Patients admitted for inpatient rehabilitation services* are expected to meet the following criteria:
- Must be medically stable to allow for full participation in 3 hours of interdisciplinary rehabilitation treatments. Comprehensive therapy services may include:
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Other services may include respiratory therapy and/or psychology
- Must require visits by a physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care
- Must demonstrate potential for functional and/or cognitive improvement in a reasonable length of time
- Must have a discharge plan that provides the necessary support based on the patient’s abilities at discharge.
- Patients with acute, infections, and/or communicable disease are not routinely admitted.
- Patients must have the physical and/or mental potential to benefit from the program.
- Patients are admitted to the program in accordance with the admission procedures. The patient's degree of impairment must be sufficient to require inpatient hospitalization.
Although the majority of our referrals come from acute-care hospitals, we also receive referral from other sources, - including, but not limited to, physician offices and skilled nursing facilities.
Funding sources may include private insurance, worker’s compensation, government programs (i.e., Medicare) and self-pay. In addition, charity care can be provided in accordance with the appropriate guidelines.

Parking Information
Parking is complimentary at any surface or garage parking lot. There is also complimentary golf cart transport service Monday - Friday during day time hours to assist visitors between their car and the hospital if needed.
